Headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization in its 30th year of promoting the game of baseball, raising money for local charities and serving the unique needs of former players.
Position: Database Administrator
The position of Database Administrator reports directly to the Membership Development Coordinator and the Development Coordinator. This position is responsible for all aspects of the Raiser's Edge database including gift and membership processing, data entry, reporting and optimizing usage of the database system. This position requires collaboration with the Membership and Development team to respond to information requests and to enhance the value and use of the information, including creating analytical reports to assist in assessing program results.
Process, reconcile and transmit donations and renewals on a daily basis accurately and in a timely manner
Produce mailing lists, data merges and fulfillment of mailings, including membership renewals, acknowledgment letters and receipts
Respond to donor and member inquiries and requests in a timely manner
Execute queries, imports and exports of data for analysis
Manage batch review and validation process for all gifts and membership dues, including monthly reconciliation and data exports for monthly reporting
Manage data for events module including special events registration, seating and participant profiles
Work with Membership and Development to develop policies and procedure to insure data integrity
Consult with Membership and Development to implement and maintain accurate coding in the database to ensure proper tracking of all funds, appeals, packages and/or other coding to ensure that all forms of outreach and communication are tracked accurately and appropriately
Serve as liaison with Blackbaud to ensure proper execution of tasks and best practices
Work with Accounting, Development and Membership to reconcile gifts & memberships, provide transaction information and reports, troubleshoot issues, and when required, reevaluate procedures and systems to improve future gift & membership tracking, reconciliation and reporting
Provide backup coverage for daily tasks of Membership Development Coordinator and Development Coordinator
Assist in coverage of administrative tasks including, but not limited to, mail, phone coverage and inventory control
All other responsibilites and tasks as assigned
Minimum of two years work experience in database management in the not-for-profit sector or equivalent experience
Strong computer skills with solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Attention to detail, ability to multitask and to manage time-sensitive projects and meet deadlines
Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-directed
Ability to problem solve and see beyond the 'how' to the 'why'
Ability to see the larger picture for a project and work toward achieving the goal
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working alone and in a team
Several years of experience as person with primary responsibiility for maintaining a fundraising database with a non-profit organization
Proficiency in Raiser's Edge or equivalent fundraising database and related business practices, including Blackbaud Net Community

The MLBPAA is currently seeking interns to spend a quarter/semester in an experience-driven environment. Growing with the MLBPAA, the internship program provides a well-rounded experience by exposing participants to all facets of the organization, including but not limited to the following: day-to-day business operations, sales/marketing, event management, fundraising/development, public/media relations, budgeting, membership development, memorabilia sales and technology.
Interns will learn through hands-on experiences working with the MLBPAA's Swing with the Legends charity golf series, the Legends for Youth baseball clinic series, Legends Games, the membership and fundraising departments and Major League Alumni Marketing. The Alumni Association's internship program provides ample opportunities for its interns to gain experience and/or college credit in the sports industry, including opportunities to manage MLBPAA events.
Candidate must be working toward degree. Sports management/administration preferred
